John's Marinara Sauce
1/3 cup olive oil
1/2 stick butter
7-8 minced cloves garlic
1 whole diced green pepper
2 whole diced onions
1 Tbsp sugar |
3 (32 oz) cans peeled plum tomatoes
1 (8 oz) can V-8 juice
1 (8 oz) can tomato paste
basil
oregano
salt/pepper |
Combine all ingredients after tomatoes have been gently run through blender, but still chunky. Simmer,
uncovered for 3 hours. Add water if necessary.
Use as base for meat sauce, lasagna, pizza, etc.
